Based on the Japanese TV show “Sasuke,” NBC’s “American Ninja Warrior” has transformed into a sport that is sweeping the nation.
The finale for the show’s eighth season (its fifth season on NBC) earned almost 6 million views in September, and this season’s number of total viewers was the highest in the show’s history. Going into that season, “American Ninja Warrior” received over 70,000 submissions from contestants.

Only two people — rock climbers Geoff Britten and Isaac Caldiero — have finished the course for what the show calls “Total Victory.” They both accomplished the feat in the show’s seventh season.
