American Ninja Warrior Host, New Celebrity Apprentice, Physician, Comedian, Actor

“Life is short, do what makes you happy.” That’s the advice that Matt got from his Dad – a world renowned physician – when Matt quit medicine to pursue stand-up comedy. And those words still guide Matt today. He talks ninjas, tells jokes around the world and, in general, proves laughter is the best medicine.

Matt is best known as the host of the Emmy-nominated “American Ninja Warrior” and being named the newest Celebrity Apprentice. His ongoing battle with Rheumatoid Arthritis transformed him into a strong supporter of the Arthritis Foundation, the charity he’s represented while winning Celebrity Apprentice. Yes, Arnold Schwarzenegger considers him a celebrity.

Dr. Matt checks in every week on Hallmark’s Home & Family, sharing his medical expertise and his unique lifestyle tips. His hosting has already earned him an Emmy Award on Clean House. He’s starred in countless commercials, numerous sitcoms and Transformers 2.

Matt’s headlined clubs all around the country and done shows for the troops around the globe, including performing in Iraq at one of Saddam Hussein’s palaces.

Matt pitched for the baseball team all 4 years at Princeton University and then got his MD from the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. Yes, he really is a doctor.

As the bottom line increasingly becomes the top priority, every employee in the healthcare industry has felt the added pressure in an already stressful field. With job descriptions changing from week to week and enough paperwork to fell a good-sized forest, there has never been a more stressful time to work in healthcare. Insurance payments are down, support staff is being cut, and job satisfaction is at an all-time low. In fact, the only thing that is up is stress. Be it the antiquated computer systems (or their unwieldy upgrades), the constant job cuts, or the seemingly constant “reviews”, Dr. Iseman has seen it all. But, more importantly, he sees the humor in it. Showing how to use humor to combat stress, Dr. Iseman proves that laughter really is the best medicine.

Before Dr. Matt Iseman started dispensing humorous one-liners as a professional comedian, he dispensed medicine as a licensed physician. But five years ago, soon after leaving his job as a doctor, he received a diagnosis that was anything but funny: He had Rheumatoid Arthritis. Since that diagnosis, he has been coping with RA while struggling to become one of the country’s top comedians.

Come see Matt Iseman keynote the Opening General session at the 2017 NRPA Annual conference Tuesday, September 26.
