Matt Iseman co-hosts American Ninja Warrior with former NFL player Akbar Gbajabiamila, and Kristine Leahy. But Iseman didn’t start out in Hollywood. Born and raised in Colorado, Iseman went to Princeton University and then the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons where he got his MD. He did his residency at the University of Colorado (Internal Medicine). And then he gave up medicine for standup comedy.

Iseman was in a number of commercials (Pontiac, JC Penney, PlayStation, Bank of America) before he got his first hosting job on the show Scream Play on E!. He went on to host Casino Night (GSN), and for five years was the “Goto Guy” on Clean House (Style Network). He seems happy now at American Ninja Warrior. And yes, he’s tried the course. No, he’s not a ninja. American Ninja Warrior airs Mondays at 8pm on NBC.
